This is a tribute to Michelangelo. I consider him a genius, but he was poorly motivated and finished very few of the commissions he ever started. He was fired from many commissions, but the few he did complete were sensational. I find, however, his statue of David to be oddly proportioned and ever since noticing this, I have unfortunately rarely ever been able to see past this fault. This painting is both my tribute to him, and also an attempt to exorcise my tunnel-visioned views of this masterpiece.
